Carla, eine erfolgsverwöhnte Maklerin, hat ihr Leben lang alles ihrem Job untergeordnet. Ihr Mann (Friedrich von Thun) ließ sich von ihr scheiden, die Tochter geht ihr seit Jahren enttäuscht aus dem Weg. Als die Powerfrau die Rente antritt, fällt sie in ein tiefes Loch. Ihre Einsamkeit ertränkt sie in Alkohol: Aus dem Gläschen Champagner am Mittag wird eine ganz Flasche, schon bald greift sie zu Hochprozentigem. Carla will sich ihre Abhängigkeit nicht eingestehen. Einen Menschen, mit dem sie über ihr Problem reden könnte, hat sie nicht. Die Hilfsangebote ihres neuen Hausmeisters Horst Keller (Klaus J. Behrendt) weist die distinguierte Dame barsch zurück. Christiane Hörbiger spielt in diesem von der Kritik gefeierten Alkoholdrama mit unglaublicher Intensität und zugleich differenziert und fernab aller Klischees. Der Film hat bei seiner ARD Erstausstrahlung im April 2011 für Furore gesorgt; das Presse- und Zuschauerecho war enorm. Ein brisantes Thema in fantastischer Umsetzung.
