Skid Row/ 34 Hours

The band formed in 1968 in Dublin. The lineup included bassist Brush Shiels, drummer Noel Bridgeman, guitarist Bernard Chivers, and Phil Lynott on vocals. In 1969, Chivers was replaced by 16-year-old Gary Moore. This lineup released the single "Misdemeanour Dream Felicity/New Places, Old Faces" on Song Records. This was Lynott's only recording with Skid Row. That same year, Lynott left the band to form his own project, Thin Lizzy. Gary Moore took over vocals.[1] This lineup recorded their second single, "Saturday Morning Man/Mervyn Aldridge." These two singles, along with three songs recorded at the BBC, were released as an album, "Live and on Song," in 2006. Skid Row opened for Fleetwood Mac during this period. The playing style of the band's guitarist, Peter Green, influenced Gary Moore. Green, in turn, also recognized the young guitarist's abilities and recommended him to Columbia Records. In October 1970, the band recorded the album "Skid." The album reached number 30 in the UK charts. Their second album, "34 Hours," was released a year later. It received its name because it was recorded in 34 hours of studio time. Moore left the band in December 1971 and was replaced by guitarist Paul Chapman. Chapman left the band the following July (he later played with UFO and Thin Lizzy). Skid Row soon disbanded. The remaining material was released in 1990.

Como anécdota decir que el bueno de Gary era zurdo y tuvo que obligarse a aprender con la diestra dado que las guitarras entonces se fabricaban y montaban para diestros.
